Robotic mower installation across Coeur d'Alene neighborhoods
The yards on either side of Sherman Avenue are nothing like the yards out past Riverstone, and the install reflects that. In the Fort Grounds and the older grid blocks north of Sherman, we're usually working with mature lawns under heavy tree canopy, irregular bed lines, and the occasional alley. A Navimow i2 with the RTK antenna mounted high on the garage gable handles most of those without drama. South of I-90 along Mullan and out toward Riverstone, the lots open up and the mowing zones get cleaner, which is friendly territory for the X3.
When we move toward the lake — Sanders Beach, the streets climbing up off Lakeshore Drive, and the bigger parcels south of town — slope and zone count start mattering. That's where we look at the Navimow X4 or, on the more complex multi-acre properties, a Kress RTKn system. We've installed the Navimow lineup on lots from 4,000 sq ft to just over an acre inside city limits.
Which Navimow fits a Coeur d'Alene yard?
Most in-town Coeur d'Alene lawns are between a quarter and a half acre, often broken up by raised beds, a stamped-concrete patio, and a fence the previous owner put in at a strange angle. The Navimow i2 (i105N or i108N depending on square footage) is the workhorse there. It mows in stripes, handles narrow passages between the house and the fence, and the RTK signal is strong enough downtown that we rarely need a second antenna.
For half-acre to one-acre yards in places like Hayden Lake-adjacent CDA neighborhoods or up off Best Avenue, the Navimow X3 is usually the right call. When the yard climbs — and a lot of Coeur d'Alene yards climb — the X4 AWD earns its keep on grades north of 24 degrees. For the handful of properties where the layout is genuinely complex (irrigation pivots, gravel transitions, livestock fencing on the back third), we'll quote a Kress RTKn instead. How we install here from Hayden
Coeur d'Alene is a 12-minute drive from our shop in Hayden. Most CDA installs are a single-day job — we arrive between 8 and 9, walk the yard one more time, mount the RTK antenna, map the zones, set the no-go areas around the beds and the dog run, and hand you the app trained on your phone before we leave. - No. The mower runs on RTK GPS, not Wi-Fi. You only need a cell or Wi-Fi signal where you check the app, which is usually inside.

- Up to about 24 degrees on the X3 and steeper on the X4 AWD. We measure during the consult — eyeballing slope is unreliable.
- What about the deer?
- They walk over the mower, mostly. It's quiet enough that they ignore it. The mower will pause if it bumps something soft.
- How loud is it?
- Around 54 dB at the unit — quieter than a normal conversation. Your neighbor on the next lot won't hear it.
- Can it mow at night?
- Yes, but Idaho cities increasingly restrict nighttime robotic mowing for wildlife reasons. We program daytime schedules by default.
